Early Years

In Nursery and Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS).
The starting point in planning exciting and relevant learning experiences within the Foundation Stage lies in close observation of children. Profile books are kept on all children which outlines how each child is achieving and the progress that they are making in each area, based upon observational assessment.

Much of the learning is through play both inside and outside the classroom. This is also balanced with specific and targeted adult directed activities.
Children are assessed against the 16 ‘Early Learning Goals’ of the EYFS at the end of their year in Reception, before moving on to the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
